Contact Capacitor Calculator

A code that decodes to something unexpected, a series/parallel total you think should differ, a dielectric constant that disagrees with your datasheet, a calculator you wish existed — this page routes your message to the person who can re-run the numbers and verify them against the standards, not a form that vanishes into a queue.

Answered Already, Most Likely

Most capacitor questions are covered somewhere on the site. These are the destinations that resolve the majority of emails — worth a look before you write. The fastest path to a verified value is usually one of these pages.

What to Include for a Fast Reply

  • ✓Browser & device (for UI glitches)
  • ✓The capacitor marking or value you entered
  • ✓Units and tolerance selected
  • ✓Dielectric material and geometry (plate calculator questions)
  • ✓Amps, volts, rated µF and line frequency (under-load questions)
  • ✓The result you expected vs. the result shown
  • ✓A screenshot of your calculator inputs

A screenshot of your calculator inputs halves the back-and-forth.

Calculation & Decoding Help

A code that doesn't decode to the value you expected? A series/parallel total that disagrees with your own math? A plate-geometry result that looks off? Send the inputs you entered — the marking or value, the units, the tolerance, the dielectric or geometry — along with the result you expected versus the one shown.

The site computes EIA code decoding with tolerance ranges, the pF→F unit ladder, series and parallel combination math, plate capacitance from C = K·ε₀·A/d with a 25-material constant table, and HVAC under-load capacitance at both 60 Hz and 50 Hz. If any output, dielectric constant, or threshold disagrees with the EIA marking standard, a manufacturer data sheet, or standard references, send the page URL and exact numbers.

What Happens After You Hit Send

No ticket numbers, no canned macros. Here is the actual path a message takes from your outbox to a verified answer — the same path whether you found a two-percent discrepancy or want a new dielectric preset added.

StepWhat HappensWhat It Means for You
1A Person Reads ItNo ticket bot, no autoresponder loop. Messages with exact inputs — the marking, the value, the units, the geometry — are reproducible, and reproducible messages get answered first.
2We Re-Run the Numbers by HandFor anything numeric, we rebuild your calculation by hand — code decoding, unit conversion, series/parallel totals, plate capacitance, or the under-load µF — and compare against the EIA marking standard, manufacturer data sheets, and published references before replying.
3You Get the Math AttachedThe reply shows the formulas and the inputs that moved the number. If we were wrong, the reply says so plainly and the fix is dated on the page it affects.
4Verified Fixes Go into the DataConfirmed corrections feed the tolerance, dielectric, and threshold tables the calculators read from, and strong feature requests feed the roadmap. Your email stays with your thread, is never added to a list, and there are no lists to add it to.

Quick Answers

The five questions we hear most from hobbyists, engineers, and service techs.

How do I get a faster reply?▼

Include the exact inputs: the capacitor marking or value you were working with, the units and tolerance selected, the geometry and dielectric if the question is about the plate calculator, or the amps/volts/rated-µF readings if it is about the under-load page — plus the result you expected versus the one shown. Add a screenshot of your calculator inputs. That one message usually lets us reproduce and explain the difference in a single reply.

Do you offer live chat or phone support?▼

Not yet. Email lets us re-run the full calculation and verify every answer against the EIA marking standard and manufacturer data sheets before responding — which matters when the topic is a tolerance grade for a timing circuit or a failing run capacitor on a live system. We read every message and answer most within two business days.

Can you tell me exactly what my unmarked capacitor is?▼

We can tell you what the calculator's method says for the marking you enter — and show every formula behind it, including the tolerance band. But physical parts need physical confirmation: an LCR meter or capacitance mode on a multimeter is the ground truth for any part whose marking is missing, ambiguous, or worn. Treat a decoded value as the strong hypothesis and verify the part before relying on it in a critical circuit — the meter reading makes the final call.

Do you sell capacitors, tools, or parts?▼

No. The site sells nothing, carries no affiliate links to any distributor, manufacturer, or marketplace, and is not affiliated with any brand. Advertising is clearly labeled and separately handled — see the advertising section of the Privacy Policy for how that works.

Can I suggest a new calculator?▼

Please do — that is how the toolset grows. Send the problem you were trying to solve, the components and units you were working with, and what you wished had been calculated for you. Requests that describe a real bench or service problem (e.g., 'can you account for the capacitance drop of an X7R at rated voltage?') go to the top of the content queue.

Everything Links Back to the Tool

Every answer we send names the exact calculator input that changes — the marking, the unit, the dielectric, the line frequency — so the fix is something you can apply yourself in seconds.
